Chun Yuen Trading Co. Issues Allergy Alert On Undeclared Milk

Chun Yuen Trading Co. of South El Monte, California, is recalling its 12.7 oz of 4-in-1 Reishi Coffee due to a mislabeling of the outer packaging, which contains undeclared milk content. People who are allergic to milk run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled ‘4-in-1 Reishi Coffee’ were distributed nationwide in retail stores.

The product comes in a 12.7 ounce golden aluminum packaging pouch marked with ‘Instant Reishi Coffee 4 in 1’ at the top of the pouch and ‘20 sachets/bag’ and ‘Net WT 360g (12.7oz)’ at the bottom right corner of the front of the pouch. A picture of the front of the product has been added at the bottom of the press release.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the milk containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk(mislabeling). Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by an incorrect artwork passed to the print shop during the re-order of pouch bags.

All current production of the ‘4-in-1 Reishi Coffee’ will have a ‘Contains Milk’ label added to the back side of the pouch under the Nutrition Facts to indicate the product contains milk. All our distributors and retailers have been provided with the ‘Contains Milk’ label to place on the pouch before re-distributing into the market. Chun Yuen Trading has also placed a new order of packaging material to include the ‘Contains Milk’ statement to prevent this issue from occurring again.

Consumers who have purchased 12.7 ounce 4-in-1 Reishi Coffee are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
