Hershey Company Transitioning Label Changes
January 5, 2017 - The Hershey Company is in the process of transitioning labeling for all Hershey’s Hugs Kisses items to reflect a recent change in the manufacture of this product. We are changing the allergen statement to identify that the product is manufactured on equipment that processes almonds. In the past, there has been no Allergen Information Statement on these items. Consumers can be assured that the information on their packages is accurate for that particular purchase.
The new allergen statement that will appear on Hershey’s Hug Kisses items is: “ALLERGY INFORMATION: Manufactured on the same equipment that processes almonds.”
This transition started in November 2016 and will impact all our Hershey’s Hugs Kisses, including assortment packages that contain Hugs. During the transition period, both products with an allergen statement for almonds and without an allergen statement will be available in the marketplace.
Consumers should know that Hershey’s Hugs Kisses in seasonal packaging for the 2016 Holiday Season are not impacted.
Also, beginning 2017 Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolate with Almonds will be removing the Allergy Information Statement of “ALLERGY INFORMATION: Manufactured on the same equipment that processes other tree nuts.” Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolate with Almonds are now manufactured on a line dedicated to almonds. During the transition period, both products with an allergen statement and without an allergen statement will be available in the marketplace.
Once again, the information on packages is accurate for that particular purchase. As always, consumers with food allergies should carefully read the labels of any product they select prior to purchase.
