August Maturo to help raise awareness of life-threatening food allergies and the importance of having an action plan
Born in Ventura, California in 2007, August Maturo began acting professionally at the age of four. He is best known for his starring role as 'Auggie Matthews' on the hit Disney Channel Series "Girl Meets World" which he booked at the age of five, (the youngest person ever to be offered a Disney Channel contract). "Girl Meets World" was an instant hit and premiered to 5.2 million viewers and Maturo filmed over 70 episodes. The show was nominated for three Emmy Awards for "Outstanding Children's Program" as well as three Teen Choice Awards, and a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award. Some of his additional credits include: "Teachers," "The Odd Couple," "Weeds," "Dads," "Bones," "Raising Hope," "See Dad Run," "Suburgatory," and "How I Met Your Mother". In 2018, Maturo made his big screen debut as 'Daniel' in the wildly successful Warner Brothers horror feature "The Nun" which has grossed over $366MM worldwide. Next, August can be seen starring as 'Joshua' in the upcoming independent feature “Shepherd: The Story of a Jewish Dog."
Maturo's success has garnered him millions of social media fans, with over 2 million followers on Instagram alone. August is passionate about using his social media presence to spread awareness about the seriousness of food allergies and anaphylaxis. August was diagnosed with life-threatening food allergies at the age of 3 and is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, coconut, and sunflower. "I'm so excited to be working with FAACT to help raise awareness about life-threatening food allergies and the importance of having an action plan! I hope that by sharing my own food allergy story, I can help others understand how serious this condition is. I also want other kids like me to know that they are not alone!", states August.
August attended FAACT's Camp TAG in 2019 and 2022 and FAACT's Teen Retreat in 2019. In his spare time, he loves art, math, science, and spending time with his younger brother Ocean. August currently lives in the LA area with his mom, dad, and younger brother Ocean.
