Community Is at the Heart of Food Allergy Awareness

Community Is at the Heart of Food Allergy Awareness
by Caroline Moassessi, FAACT Vice President of Community Relations
The bonds among our food allergy community run deep and strong. FAACT witnesses this every year at our conferences, where strangers become friends, and old friends strengthen their relationships. As we head into Food Allergy Awareness Week (FAAW) and Food Allergy Awareness Month (FAAM), we invite you to reflect on our community and how you would like to participate.
Our community includes patients, parents, caregivers, family members, co-workers, educators, advocates, support group members, manufacturers, food scientists, food safety professionals, doctors, researchers, and the food industry (including chefs, restaurants, FDA, USDA, to name a few!).
Together, we created this spectacular community that has shifted the food allergy landscape over the last several decades. Can you imagine what our food allergy world will look like in another decade or two?
During Food Allergy Awareness Month and Week (FAAM/FAAW), let’s make some noise and lift our voices to raise awareness and grow this community. Visit FAACT’s Food Allergy Awareness Initiatives page for proclamation templates, free downloads, educational materials, and ideas on how you can use all of these tools. FAACT is focused on education through our “Food Allergies Don’t Discriminate! Let’s Educate and Advocate” campaign this year.
Let’s uplift our community this month with a full heart and an unwavering passion for educating and raising food allergy awareness.
